Ryan Robison makes commitment to play after Vincennes University

VINCENNES, Ind. - With the 2020 baseball season coming to an unforeseen halt, Vincennes University baseball first baseman and left-handed pitcher Ryan Robison (New Albany, Ind.) has made a commitment to play in the 2020-2021 season. He has chosen Purdue University Fort Wayne, an NCAA Division I program that will play in the Horizon league starting next year.

1B/LHP Ryan Robison is a sophomore who had an excellent 2019 spring campaign. He hit .316, made 53 starts, and had 5 home runs with 32 RBIs in his VU Career. Off the mound Robison made 13 appearances, starting 9 games, going 2-4 with 49 innings pitched. Robison allowed 48 hits while striking out 50. He was off to great start in the 2020 spring season, hitting .404 in 15 games, with 19 hits, 3 home runs, and 21 RBIs. On the mound in 2020 Robison made 6 appearances, started 3 games, was 2-0, with 2 saves in 21.1 innings pitched. He allowed 10 hits, struck out 20, and had a 0.89 ERA (18th in the country NJCAA D-II baseball).

Ryan Robison says. . .

"I chose Vincennes University because it has such a nice campus full of caring people. Because of the quality baseball program, it was an easy decision for me. VU has great staff that has helped me with school and different aspects of life. With being busy during baseball season I have learned how to become a better student athlete. Purdue Fort Wayne is a great school with a beautiful campus. With a D-I baseball offer coming in it was what I had waited for my whole life. When that offer came in I couldn’t turn it down."

VU Baseball’s Head Coach Chris Barney says. . .

“The Vincennes University family is very excited for Ryan. The last two years he has been an anchor in the 4-hole offensively and very effective off the mound. His contributions over the last two seasons is a major reason for the success of Vincennes University baseball. He will be very tough to replace after this year but we are incredibly thankful to have had him for the last two years.”

VU Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Harry Meeks has a special connection to the late Yow, who was the longtime coach at North Carolina State. He had the pleasure of meeting her while he was an assistant coach at Western Carolina University. This left a lasting impression on him and made this cause important to him and the Trailblazers.
