Vincennes University men’s basketball climbs to No. 8 in latest NJCAA rankings

VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University climbed three positions to No. 8 in this week’s NJCAA Div. I rankings released Feb. 3.

This new ranking comes after a road win against Wabash Valley College and an impressive 81-67 win against district challengers and No. 15 ranked John A. Logan.

VU received 279 points in the new rankings, up from 246 last week.

The top 10 teams are: Florida SouthWestern State (397), Pearl River (381), Mineral Area (351), Ranger (338), Indian Hills (331), Cowley (321), Tyler (307), Vincennes (279), North Oklahoma Tonkawa (269), and Clarendon (257).

VU (20-3) look to keep climbing the rankings as they travel to Lincoln Trail Feb. 5 followed by another road game at Southeastern Illinois on Feb.8. These games are both set to tip off at 8:30 EST.

The Lady Blazers (20-4) unfortunately fell out of the top 25 this week after being ranked No. 24 last week. They received three votes in the poll.

Play4Kay

The Vincennes University Athletic Department hosts Play4Kay and raises donations for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund annually. VU Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Harry Meeks has a special connection to the late Yow, who was the longtime coach at North Carolina State. He had the pleasure of meeting her while he was an assistant coach at Western Carolina University. This left a lasting impression on him and made this cause important to him and the Trailblazers.
