INA, Ill. -  The Vincennes University men’s basketball team walked through the quarterfinal of NJCAA D1 Men's Basketball Central District Championship against Lake Land College 83-63 on Monday at Rend Lake College. This brings No. 9 VU to 27-4 on the season.

The Blazers allowed Lake Land the lead early on 2-0, but that was the only lead they held during the game. The game went in to halftime with VU leading 43-20. The score only fell below a 20-point margin once in the second half.

VU Statistical Leaders

Sophomore Craig Porter (Terre Haute, Ind.) scored 20 points, with 7 field goals, and went 6-8 from the line. Sophomore Kevin Osawe (Brampton, Ontario, Canada) led scoring on the night with 26 points, sinking 2 treys, and 10 field goals. Freshman Christian Wells (Muncie, Ind.) scored two back-to-back 3-pointers, those being his second and third of the season.

VU Coach Todd Franklin says. . .

“We just can’t let other teams put forward a better effort than we are. There should be no reason someone on the other team is giving it their all and we aren’t. Hopefully we come out on Wednesday night with no excuses and show whoever we face that we’re going to give our all on the court.”
