VINCENNES, Ind. - The Vincennes University Foundation has announced that Mikayla Keen, a 2016 Gibson Southern High School graduate, is the recipient of the 2017-18 Lisa McCracken Memorial Fund Scholarship at Vincennes University. Keen is from Owensville, Indiana.

Keen is a full-time student pursuing an associate degree in Art Education at VU. She was recommended for the scholarship based on references indicating her outstanding work ethic and goal of becoming a teacher. The scholarship can be used toward college tuition, fees, and books for higher education studies.

Lisa McCracken, Hazelton, died in 1987 at age 19 as the result of a fatal attack. While at VU she was an education major with the intentions of becoming a teacher. Because Lisa enjoyed VU and teaching, her parents stipulated that recipients of the scholarship be full-time students majoring in education in pursuit of becoming a teacher, and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA. “It is our privilege to honor the memory of Lisa McCracken and present Mikayla Keen with the scholarship bearing Lisa’s name,” stated Bumper Hostetler, VU Foundation President.
