JASPER, Ind. - Manufacturing Day is a growing national movement dedicated to overcoming the shared challenges facing manufacturers today. The most pressing issue is that present-day manufacturing environments are highly technical and companies cannot find the skilled workers they need.
Giving students early exposure to manufacturing careers is critically important to ensuring a long-term talent pipeline. Vincennes University Jasper and Dubois Strong will host a Manufacturing Day Educational Fair on Oct. 5, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (EDT), at the Center for Technology, Innovation, and Manufacturing. Representatives of area manufacturers will set up booths and be available to speak with students about their operations.
Schools expected to bring students to the Manufacturing Day Educational Fair include Jasper, Northeast Dubois, Shoals, South ridge, Forest Park, Heritage Hills, Perry Central, Loogootee, Pike Central, and Crawford county schools.
ABOUT MANUFACTURING DAY
Manufacturing Day gives manufacturers an opportunity to raise and address issues by simply exhibiting what they do to visitors who are curious about manufacturing. Thousands of manufacturers across the nation participate in Manufacturing Day by hosting open houses, public tours, career workshops and other events. They are joined by community and technical colleges that host similar events to showcase their facilities and course offerings that lead to well-paid, in-demand manufacturing careers. Through this collective effort, Manufacturing Day draws public attention to manufacturing’s present-day reality and encourages job seekers to develop the skills they need to qualify for long-term careers in this secure and growing sector of the economy.
