December 17, 2018 / No. 2 Trailblazers remain undefeated

ROBINSON, Ill. – The Vincennes University men’s basketball team raced out to a 23-10 lead and never looked back in a road win at District 16 foe Lincoln Trail Monday night.

The Trailblazers led by as many as 23 points in the first half and were never threatened in the second half, en route to a 94-74 win.

The No. 2 ranked Trailblazers improved to 13-0 overall and 4-0 in league play.

“This was a pretty good 9-1 team coming into tonight so there were a lot of ways you could lose a game like this,” VU coach Todd Franklin said of Lincoln Trail. “But we eliminated that possibility with the way we played early on by building the lead we did. And we did that by everyone doing their job.”

George Dixon scored a career-high 24 points to go along with a game-high 16 rebounds.

Lony Francis added 29 points and seven boards, while Craig Porter stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, seven rebounds, six assists and four blocks.

The Trailblazers will be off for the rest of holiday break and return to action on Jan. 3 when they play host to Elizabethtown inside the P.E. Complex.
