May 21, 2019 / Trailblazers' Paris, Lancaster receive all-conference honors

 

VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University sophomore pitchers Walker Paris and Luke Lancaster have been named to the Mid-West Athletic Conference all-conference baseball team.

Paris received second-team honors. Lancaster earned a spot on the honorable mention team.

"I am extremely happy for both Walker and Luke who were named all conference by the other coaches in the Mid-West Athletic Conference,” VU Baseball Coach Chris Barney said. “It shows that hard work and determination pays off.  Both have gotten it done on the field and in the classroom over the last two years here at Vincennes University and have been major contributors to the baseball program over the last two years. It is a nice reward for both as they have wrapped up their careers here at Vincennes University."

Paris posted a team-leading .88 earned run average this season.

He gave up 10 runs – three were earned – in 30.2 innings pitched. He recorded four saves. Paris struck out 20 batters, walked 10 and allowed 25 hits in 16 appearances.

At the plate, Paris ranked second on the team in RBIs with 31. He had the team’s fourth highest batting average. He hit .301 with eight doubles, one triple and a home run.

Lancaster struck out a team-high 71 batters in 57.2 innings.

He recorded a 3.75 ERA, a 6-4 record and one save. He allowed 27 runs – 24 earned – in 25 appearances. Lancaster walked 19 and gave up 54 hits.

The Trailblazers closed out the season with a 25-30 overall record. They recorded a 13-18 league record in their first season as a M-WAC conference member.
