April 22, 2019 / Upcoming concerts will feature VU music ensembles
VINCENNES, Ind. - Two upcoming concerts will feature the
talents of students in Vincennes University music ensembles. Jazz on
the Wabash will be April 30 and A Backwards Cabaret will be May 5.
Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
Jazz on the Wabash will begin at 7:30 p.m. (EDT), April 30, at
the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center. The evening will showcase the
VU Connection show choir under the direction of Juliet Gilchrist, and
the VU Jazz Ensemble under the direction of Addisson Grimm. The
concert will feature solos, combos, and full ensemble music in a
variety of styles including pop, jazz, and Latin.
Beginning at 4 p.m. in Jefferson Union on May 5, A Backwards
Cabaret will feature solo and ensemble performances by the members of
the VU Connection. This concert is referred to as “backwards” because
all the songs being performed will be by the opposite voice type or
gender from what they were originally written for. This gives the
singer an opportunity to perform a song they have always loved but
have not been able to perform because of casting specifics.
