February 28, 2020 / Vincennes University Department of Music presenting “Colón Cello Quartet” in a guest recital

VINCENNES, Ind. - The Vincennes University Department of Music will present the “Colón Cello Quartet” in a guest recital on Wednesday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. EST in the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center.

Admission to the performance is free, and the public is invited to attend. Doors open at 7 p.m.

The Colón Cello Quartet will be making its debut performance at the Skelton Center. The quartet is comprised of four young professional cellists:  Diana Wuli, James Jiang, Kevin Flynn, and John Yang.  The ensemble was formed under the tutelage of Professor Emilio Colón from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music. Diana Wuli teaches applied string lessons and the VU String Ensemble at Vincennes University.

This unique concert program will feature original cello quartet works by Julius Klengel, Alexandre Tansman, and Guillaume Pâque. In addition, the quartet will also perform arrangements of renowned classics, including Fritz Kreisler’s Liebesleid “Love’s Sorrow”, arranged by Emilio Colón, and other arrangements from composers Claude Debussy, Astor Piazzolla, and J.S. Bach.
