Coronavirus Update March 16, 2020

Dear VU Colleagues, Students, and Stakeholders:

As of today, Vincennes University has not been advised of any students, faculty, or staff who have been diagnosed with the coronavirus at any VU location. However, VU is continuing to make plans to promote the health and safety of our people and communities, while doing our best to sustain the fulfillment of our mission.

The following immediate actions have been taken:

  • VU is extending the semester one week to May 15, 2020 due to the extension of spring break. All courses are still transitioning to online or alternative delivery modes on March 23, and will be offered in these formats until further notice.
  • A list of frequently asked questions (FAQ) is now available on our Coronavirus Update page and social media. This list will be updated as new information is available.
  • VU is no longer accepting reservations for community events on its campuses and sites for the next eight weeks. However, we are honoring existing reservations for events of fewer than 50 individuals, per Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. A committee is being formed to review existing events to determine strategies for maximizing social distancing and health protocols.

We care about your safety and will continue to keep you up to date on all information and announcements regarding the coronavirus. As this fluid situation changes, we will respond to the recommendations and requirements of health agencies and government entities accordingly and keep you informed.

Best regards,

Chuck Johnson, Ph.D.
President
Vincennes University
