The Kay Yow Cancer Fund, in partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The V Foundation, is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause.



VUVB Remains Unbeaten with Pair of Wins on Day 1 of Owens Express Invite

Perrysburg, OH – The Vincennes University Women’s Volleyball team moved to a perfect 5-and-0 record by picking up a pair of straight-set, quality wins over #19 in DII Muskegon, and Jackson CC.

In game 1, the Lady Trailblazers of Vincennes faced off against the Jets of Jackson College. VU made quick work of Jackson by toppling the team in straight sets: 25-17, 25-12, 25-15. The victory made the Lady Blazers a perfect 12-and-0 in sets this season, and moved them to an overall 4-and-0 record.

Sophomore Gabrielle Medrado recorded her 9th career triple-double in a Trailblazer Uniform. Medrado racked up 10 kills, 17 assists, & 13 digs. Other Blazers making a big splash on the stats sheet included: Sophomore Genesis Milisde with 11 kills, Sophomore Cali Toploski with 13 set assists, Sophomore Hannah Bullock with a ridiculous 29 digs, Erica Kik with 4 blocks, and Abby Biggler and Allison Ruddick with 13 digs a-piece.

In game #2, VU took on #19 in NJCAA DII Muskegon Community College. The Lady Trailblazers again extended their set winning streak to 15 straight sets with a straight set victory: 13-25, 22-25, 13-25 over the Jayhawks. Securing the W moved the Trailblazers to an unbeaten 15-and-0 in sets this season, and an overall record of 5-and-0.

Medrado narrowly missed notching her 10th career triple-double by recording: 9 kills, 18 assists, and 11 digs. Genesis Milisde again had a big night above the net with 8 kills. Cali Toploski had another double-digit assist night with 10. Freshman Mackenzie Haworth had 2 aces, and Hannah Bullock and Allison Ruddick again rounded out the stat sheet with double-digit digs, punching-in 19 and 12 each.

Coach Sien after the matches said, “We picked a pair of wins over some really solid clubs today. It was a great showing on the first day of the Owens Tournament. If we remain on task, tomorrow should be a very good day as well.”

The Lady Trailblazers will look to remain unbeaten on day 2 of the Owens Express Invitational today. VU will take on Edison at 11:45 a.m. EST, and then will double-back to face Lansing Community College at 1:30 p.m. Go VU!

Trailblazer Scholarship Fund - The VU Foundation awarded a record $1.4 million scholarship dollars of VU Foundation and University funds for the 2015-2016 school year to incoming and returning VU students.  

These included awards to students from 10 states across the country and 4 international awards.  

Currently the VU Foundation manages over 540 scholarship and department funds, with 259 new funds created in just the last 10 years.
