VUVB Set to Travel to Wallace State Fall Bash

Vincennes, IN – The 23-and-5 Vincennes University Trailblazers volleyball team will make the trek down to Hanceville, Alabama this weekend to take part in what is shaping up to be a very strong field at the Wallace State Fall Bash, hosted by Wallace State Community College.

In the 1st game of the Fall Bash, the Trailblazers will face off against #12 ranked in the NJCAA DII poll Catawba Valley. They have made the Division II National Tournament 2 of the last 3 years, and could be quite the match-up if both teams play to their potential.

In the 2nd match set to take place on Friday, VU will face-off against Mississippi University for Women. The Owls hold a modest record of 5-and-14, but have played a tough schedule up to this point in the year. The Blazers have never faced Mississippi University for Women, but as Coach Sien eluded to earlier in the day, every match at this tournament will be hard fought.

On Saturday, the Blazers are again set to play 2 matches. The first at 10 a.m. EST against Coastal Alabama-Bay Minette (formerly Faulkner State), and versus host Wallace State at Noon EST.

Coastal Alabama-Bay Minette is usually a tough squad, and the Sun Chiefs are notorious for playing competitive volleyball from beginning to end.

In the Final game of the Fall Bash, the Trailblazers will take on Wallace State. Vincennes defeated the Lions of Wallace State in 4-sets earlier this season at the Blazer Classic. However, Wallace State has made the NJCAA national Tournament 8-straight times, and will be no easy task.

Coach Sien said of the tournament, “If we’re on our game, we are hard to stop. It will be a challenge to adjust to the different style of play in the south; however, we have met the majority of all of these obstacles this season. We will be ready for a great tournament!”

The Trailblazers schedule starts tomorrow at 3 p.m. vs. Catawba CC, and concludes against Mississippi University for Women at 7 p.m. Go VU!

We Believe Sports

National Junior College Athletic Association Logo

At VU, we believe sports play an important role in the overall purpose of an educational institution. We support a well-rounded intercollegiate sports program for both men and women and have a strong presence in the NJCAA where we can claim several national championships. But we are equally proud of our individual All-American and All-American Academic athletes who have used their talent to continue their education at four-year colleges.
