Summer Bridge Program

The Vincennes University Summer Bridge Program is VIRTUAL for 2021!  The program is designed to provide incoming and freshman level students with a summer college orientation experience and the opportunity to get a head start on their academic goals. Additional faculty and staff are available for the Summer Bridge Program to assure that students experience a positive transition to college life.

What students will do:

  • Enroll in a Study Skills (3 credit hour) course.
  • Participate in a half day of ONBOARDING before classes begin.
  • Meet with the Director in a pre, mid, and post mentoring session to discuss academics, career paths, self-advocacy, struggles, etc.
  • Develop social connections and friendships with weekly virtual game nights.
  • Attend weekly workshops with various campus service areas.

What students will learn:

  • Where campus services and facilities are located
  • How to use the library, tutoring  and computer labs
  • Study skills, goal setting, time management, and prioritization
  • What is required to be successful in college academics
  • Self-advocacy skills

How to Apply:

The number of students accepted into the Summer Bridge Program is limited to promote a quality program. In order to have your application approved and processed in a timely manner, it is important to apply early.


  • Complete application for admission to Vincennes University  
  • Submit an application for the Summer Bridge Program
  • Be interviewed by the Director of Summer Bridge for acceptance into the program. Once your application is received the Director will contact you to schedule a personal interview.

  • Take the placement tests. For testing information, please visit the VU Assessment Center at
