#22 Lady Blazers Tag Lincoln Trail for 23rd Win of the Season

ROBINSON,IL- The #22 nationally ranked Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers soared to a 71-to-40 road win at rival Lincoln Trail College tonight thanks to a pair of big performances by Freshman Ladellia Maggett, who racked up another huge game from behind the arc, and Sophomore Laurhen Pickett who nearly notched her 12th double-double of the season.

VU got off to a hot start thanks to veteran Laurhen Pickett. Pickett would score as many points as the opposing Lady Statesmen did in the first quarter with 10, and the Lady Blazers would capture an 8-point, 18-to-10 lead after the initial 10 minutes of play.

The name of the game in the 2nd quarter was defense, as neither team seemed to be able to hold on to the rock, and neither team could quite get dialed in scoring the basketball. Pickett and Maggett teamed up to score 7 of VU’s 11 2nd quarter points, and the Trailblazers took a 29-18 lead into half-time. At the half-way-point, Laurhen Pickett led all scorers with 14 points, and fabulous freshman guard Ladellia Magget had added 8 points and 5 assists.

Just as the story line went for the Olney Central game, Ladellia Maggett would explode in the second-half. Maggett would score 21 of her game-high 29 points in the 2nd half, including knocking down 5-of-6 of her 3-point baskets. The Lady Blazers would waltz to a 71-to-40 road win in Robinson over the Lady Statesmen of Lincoln Trail College, and would capture their 23rd victory of the season.

Vincennes was led in scoring by Ladellia Maggett who tallied 29 points on six 3’s, and dished out 6 assists. Sophomore stand-out Laurhen Pickett narrowly missed her 12th double-double of the season as she finished with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Fellow sophomore Sheyanne Street would round out the Lady Blazers in double-figures with 10 points.

The Lady Blazers will return to action this Saturday at the VU P.E. Complex against Southeastern Illinois. The game will be very special as parents, faculty, alumni, students, and fans alike it is one of the final 2 home games for the Vincennes University Trailblazers this season! We sincerely hope that you can make your way out to watch a phenomenal basketball team! Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. EST!  Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m. EST! Go VU!
