#3 Vincennes University Trailblazers Drop First Decision of the Season at Olney Central

Olney, IL – The #3 Vincennes University Trailblazers saw their unbeaten streak come to an end in a District 16 match-up against Olney Central College.

Vincennes got off to a slow start in this game, only managing to score 28 points in the first half of play. This slow start combined with Olney Central connecting on 7 of 12 3-point attempts gave the Blue Knights a 15-point advantage at the break.

The Trailblazers battled with Olney Central in the second-half, but ultimately could not erase the early deficit, resulting in a 91 – 75 Vincennes loss. This is only Olney Central’s ninth all-time win over Vincennes in the 71-game history of this rivalry. This match-up also marks the first time since 2011 that Olney Central has beaten the Trailblazers, ending VU’s 14-game winning streak over the Blue Knights.

Freshman Ty Gadsden led the Trailblazers with 19 points and 7 assists. Sophomore Rade Kukobat finished his evening with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Freshman Lony Francis, Jr. nearly got a double-double with a 13-point, 9-rebound performance. Freshman Keith Clemons came off the bench to connect on 4 of 6 from 3, giving him 12 points.

Vincennes returns home to take on John A. Logan College on Wednesday, February 14th, as part of a men’s and women’s double-header. The #24 VU Lady Trailblazers will start the action at 5 p.m. eastern with the men’s game to follow at approx. 7 p.m. eastern.
