Bartley, VU lead Brescia event after 1st round of play

SANTA CLAUS – The Vincennes University Golf Team held a 12-stroke lead and VU’s Jacob Bartley led the tournament with an even-par 72 Thursday after the first round of the Brescia University Invitational at Christmas Lake Golf Course in Santa Claus, IN.
The second round is being played today.
“We played in the rain and windy, cold conditions (Thursday) so this was a great round for Jacob and a solid round for our team,” VU Coach Dennis Chattin said.
The First Round team scores after the teams went to the clubhouse were:

·    Kentucky Wesleyan         317
·    Asbury                             320
·    IU East                            325
·    Brescia A                        326

VU’s individual scores after Thursday’s play were:
·    Jacob Bartley            72

The Vincennes University Athletic Department hosts Play4Kay and raises donations for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund annually. VU Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Harry Meeks has a special connection to the late Yow, who was the longtime coach at North Carolina State. He had the pleasure of meeting her while he was an assistant coach at Western Carolina University. This left a lasting impression on him and made this cause important to him and the Trailblazers.

Trailblazer Scholarship fund - The VU foundation awarded $970,242.80 scholarship dollars of the VU Foundation and University funds for the 2017-18 school year to incoming and returning VU students.  These included awards to students from 8 states across the country and 3 international awards.

The VU Foundation currently manages over 525 scholarship and department funds, with 247 news funds created in just the last 9 years.
