Coach Tim Marsee Garners NJCAA Indoor Midwest Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year Award

Pittsburg, KS – Assistant track & field coach Tim Marsee joined several of his athletes in reeling in awards this weekend at the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships by being named the Midwest Region Women’s Assistant Coach of the Year award recipient.

Marsee primarily coaches vaults and sprints at VU, but has been a pillar of the program’s success since he was added to the staff in 2008. Marsee has coached 15 national champions, 3 NJCAA national record holders, 71 All-Americans, and had 14 athletes break school records during his tenture. This indoor season, Coach Marsee had 3 athletes qualify in the pole vault, and all 3 three athletes earned All-American Honors, finishing in the top 4 at the NJCAA National meet. His work was also evident in the sprint events, as he helped freshman Marlowe Mosely to break the VU school record in the 400m dash, earning All-American honors, and helped the men’s 4x4 team of Mosely, freshman Kevin Johnson, sophomore Michael Trice, and sophomore Keenen Johnson to break the school record in the event, also earning All-American honors.

Coach Tim Marsee is a 1980 graduate of South Ripley High school, and competed in cross country and track there before heading into the service.

Coach Marsee on winning the award said, “The award was voted on by coaches all across the country, so for my peers to think that I am deserving of such a great accomplishment, makes me feel really great. I have been extremely blessed to coach some tremendous athletes, and they have made my job and my time at Vincennes University truly spectacular.”

VU Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Harry Meeks has a special connection to the late Yow, who was the longtime coach at North Carolina State. He had the pleasure of meeting her while he was an assistant coach at Western Carolina University. This left a lasting impression on him and made this cause important to him and the Trailblazers.
