Hall shoots 74 in first round of national golf tournament

PLYMOUTH, Ind. – Vincennes University sophomore Zach Hall shot a 2-over-par 74 in the opening round of the NJCAA Division II Men’s Golf Championship at Swan Lake Golf Resort on Tuesday.

Play was suspended for three hours due to rain.

Hall was 1-under par after two holes when the weather delay began.

He returned to the Black Course when play resumed and shot a 39 on the front nine. He fired a 34 on the back and capped the round with a birdie on the final hole.

VU Golf Coach Dennis Chattin praised Hall for a very good score in windy and cold conditions.

“I was really proud of the way he stayed focused with the weather and after the restart,” Chattin said.

Many groups were still on the course when play was suspended due to darkness. At that time, Hall was tied for 25th.

The tournament continues through Friday.
