VU volleyball signs Kacee Nicholson

VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University Volleyball Coach Gary Sien has signed Charleston (Illinois) High School product Kacee Nicholson to play for the Trailblazers.

Nicholson is a 5-foot-9 defensive specialist and outside hitter.

“She can hit,” Sien said. “I recruited her primarily to play in the back row. She’s got really good first contact skills like serve receive and digs. She’s a taller defensive player too and that’s nice.”

Her serve receive percentage was 1.85 and she had 248 digs last season.

“The neat thing is she plays for a club called Peak Performance,” Sien said. “(VU player) Ariana Gentzler is from that club. At my last school, I recruited from that club. It’s nice to bring that connection here.”

VU’s volleyball program is coming off a strong 2018 campaign.

The Trailblazers tied for first place in the NJCAA Division I Region 24 standings. They made it to the title match of the Region 24 Tournament and finished as the runner-up. They later reached the semifinals of the District J Tournament. VU compiled a 27-13 overall record.
