Pre-seeding information on district basketball tournaments; VU men vying for top seed, VU women hosting first-round game

INA, Ill. - Although much of the eventual lineup of games is yet to be decided, the NJCAA District 16 Tournament for the Vincennes University Men's Basketball Team and neighboring Region 24 will begin on Monday, Feb. 29, with three "play-in games" at the higher seeds' home sites, and the NJCAA District P women's basketball tournament will tip off for the VU women and region 24's top seven teams on March 1 on the home courts of the district's top four seeds.

VU is still vying for the men's tournament's top seed. The Trailblazers on Friday host Shawnee in the regular season finale and VU (23-6; 16-3 in district play) can wrap up the No. 1 seed by winning that contest.

The Trailblazer women (24-5), who also host Shawnee on Friday, have secured one of the top four seeds in their tournament which means VU will host a first round game on Tuesday, March 1, at the VU P.E. Complex. The opponent and time are still to be determined.

All games in both tournaments on March 3 and 4 will be played at Rend Lake College in Ina, IL.
