Ruddick signs with Union College volleyball program

VINCENNES, Ind. – Allison Ruddick led the Vincennes University volleyball team and NJCAA Division I in digs with 848 last season.

After an impressive career at VU, the 5-foot-8 defensive specialist/libero will play next for Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky.

“It’s a very good NAIA program,” VU Volleyball Coach Gary Sien said.

Ruddick averaged 6.24 digs per set, third in Division I, and landed a spot on the All-Region 24 first team last seaspm. In 39 of 40 matches, she had double digits digs.

“She’ll be a tough one to replace,” Sien said.

“This was her first year as libero. She had never played this position before. The libero runs the defense and she took the whole thing and ran with it. She had an impressive year and was incredible.”

Ruddick (Muncie, Indiana) recorded 1,256 career digs for the Trailblazers.

“We are thrilled to add someone of Allison’s caliber to our program,” Union College Volleyball Coach Jeremy Wise said. “She should be an influence to our team with her work ethic and determined defense right away. She has a great volleyball IQ allowing her to reach most balls and has the finesse on her passes and attacking swings to better the ball.

“She should have no problem fitting into our program and producing right away.”
