Seventeen Student-Athletes Receive NJCAA All-Academic Honors

VINCENNES, Ind. - At Vincennes University it has long been a part of the athletics motto that we are equally proud of our individual All-American and our All-American Academic athletes. This year Trailblazer athletes showed their hunger to be the best of the best with 17 student-athletes receiving NJCAA All-Academic honors, as well as two students becoming First Team All-Americans.

Both the Vincennes University Volleyball team and the Vincennes University Women's Basketball team had five students receive All-Academic honors, prompting Head Volleyball Coach Gary Sien to say “This is such a proud moment, to have 5 students recognized for their outstanding academic achievements. None of them allowed the challenge of remote learning due to the pandemic to affect their course work. It is a huge accomplishment as they are all in demanding fields of study. Congratulations to each of you for your diligence and singular focus!”

The Vincennes University Athletic Department hosts Play4Kay and raises donations for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund annually. VU Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Harry Meeks has a special connection to the late Yow, who was the longtime coach at North Carolina State. He had the pleasure of meeting her while he was an assistant coach at Western Carolina University. This left a lasting impression on him and made this cause important to him and the Trailblazers.
