Trailblazer Hoops Adds George Dixon to Talented 2017 Recruiting Class

Vincennes, IN – What was already a stellar 2017 recruiting class for the Vincennes University Trailblazers got even better this afternoon as the team signed George Dixon, who was a regular starter this year for power house prep IMG Academy in Florida.

As a junior in Milwaukee, it was evident that Dixon had the size, strength, and ability to be a big time player next year. Dixon stands 6’4, 240lbs, and at first glance, looks more like an NFL linebacker than a flex-wing player. While at Riverside High School in Milwaukee, Dixon was named to the All-City Team, and even helped his team win a City Title in what is historically a very, very competitive basketball area. He averaged 16 points, and 12 rebounds a game. His aggressive style of play, and relentless ability to go after the basketball began to catch the eyes of several college coaches across the country.

As a senior, Dixon started every game for IMG Academy, one of the nation’s top prep schools, located in Florida. Averaging 14 points and 9 boards a contest, he transitioned from playing the power forward position, which he had solid success with while at Riverside High, to an athletic wing player. Dixon showed that he had a tremendous ability to defend multiple positions on the floor, attacks the boards at a high level, and even developed the ability to handle the ball well.

Coach Franklin said of signing Dixon, “We are really, really excited to have George. He is a strong kid. He’s built more like an NFL player than a basketball player, but he has surprisingly quick feet for his size, and quick hands. He is excellent defensively, we believe he even has the possibility to be an elite level defender. He handles the ball well, if he improves his jump shot, he could be a very, very good player. He has a unique body type, a unique skill set, and a unique ability to play multiple positions. At the Junior College level is very important, especially in the tournament.”
