Trailblazer volleyball adds setter Morgen Tinkle

VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University Volleyball Coach Gary Sien has announced the signing of Morgen Tinkle for the 2019 season.

Tinkle is a 5-foot-5 setter from Parke Heritage High School in Rockville, Indiana. She was an American Volleyball Coaches Association Under Armour All-American nominee in 2018.

She amassed 870 assists last season, averaging 8.8 per set. She added 155 digs, 54 aces and 29 kills.

Tinkle was named to the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association all-state first team junior and senior years. She made the Bi-County team for four seasons and earned all-Wabash River Conference honors twice.

In her final year of high school, Tinkle accomplished a challenging task. Parke Heritage is a consolidation of Rockville and Turkey Run high schools, and the 2018-19 academic year was its inaugural year.

Sien was impressed by Tinkle’s role in the transition. She helped Parke Heritage post a 24-10 overall record.
“It’s a brand new team. To have a senior setter like Morgen with her leadership and to run an offense. . . that’s a huge accomplishment,” Sien said.

She averaged 6.6 assists per set for her career, and finished with 2,531 assists, 660 digs, 224 aces and 117 kills.

“Morgen is a great athlete and team player,” Parke Heritage Volleyball Coach Jennifer Pakiz said. “You will not find many that work as hard as she does while smiling in the process. She was a four-year starter running a 6-2 for two years and a 5-1 her junior and senior year.

“She was instrumental in establishing our team climate as the school went through consolidation and gained many new players. She is a great leader, very coachable and level headed. I will miss her tremendously and can’t say enough positive things about her.”

Tinkle was a National Honor Society student in high school. She will major in occupational therapy at VU.

She is familiar with her new teammates.

“She has played club with three of our players,” Sien said. “She’s played with Ryli Bobbitt, Ryleigh Fidler and Grace Doane.”
