Twenty VU athletes set to compete at NJCAA National Outdoor Track & Field Championships

HUTCHINSON, Kan. – The Vincennes University Track & Field Teams will feature 20 student-athletes competing at the 2015 NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships this weekend in Hutchinson, KS.
The events begin Thursday and wrap up Saturday

The Trailblazers will head to the Heartland with high expectations and confidence after stellar performances throughout the 2015 indoor and outdoor seasons. The event will also conclude the record-setting and All-American careers of sophomores TaPring Goatee, Kaitlyn Moricz, Eric Blackman and Robert Murphy, among others.
"I'm very excited for our prospects in Hutchinson,” VU Coach Chris Gafner said. “We have some athletes who are firing on all cylinders right now, that will be competing for national titles and All-American honors. We've battled some injuries through the year but, for the most part, we’re ready to perform at a high level."
Goatee is qualified in four events, while Kenneth Lloyd and Murphy are set to compete in three each. Blackman qualified for the Decathlon and High Jump. Others in more than one event at the national championship event are Sierra Brown, Ariana Kuhn and Kelly O’Shea (see complete list below).
VU student-athletes competing at the NJCAA Outdoor National Championships are:

·          TaPring Goatee - 1500m Run, 3000m Steeplechase, 5000m Run, 4x400m Relay
·          Candela Guijarro - High Jump
·          Ariana Kuhn - Hammer Throw, Discus
·          Kaitlyn Moricz - Pole Vault
·          Kelly O'Shea - 1500m Run, 4x400m Relay
·          Lillian Schneider - Pole Vault
·          Adelina Vanaga - 4x400m Relay
·          Hanna Wise - 4x400m Relay

·          Eric Blackman - High Jump, Decathlon
·          Michael Boger - Pole Vault
·          Chris Bouchie - 4x100m Relay
·          Jordan Feuerstein - High Jump
·          Jacques Hall - 4x100m Relay
·          Demarques Jones - 4x100m Relay
·          Trey Kennedy - Pole Vault
·          Kenneth Lloyd - High Jump, Javelin, 4x100m Relay
·          Blake Marsee - Pole Vault

Play for Kay Cancer Awareness

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund, in partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The V Foundation, is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause. Kay Yow was a college head coach for 38 years and past president and founding member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. Her name is synonymous with North Carolina State. She is a member of the Naismith National Basketball Hall of Fame and achieved more than 700 career victories. Yow was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987. She passed away in 2009 after an on-again, off-again battle with the disease.

Scholarship Fund

Trailblazer Scholarship Fund - The VU Foundation awarded a record $1.4 million scholarship dollars of VU Foundation and University funds for the 2015-2016 school year to incoming and returning VU students.  

These included awards to students from 10 states across the country and 4 international awards.  

Currently the VU Foundation manages over 540 scholarship and department funds, with 259 new funds created in just the last 10 years.
