Two Blazers named to All-Tournament Team

High School teammates and life-long friends Brantli Lannan and Ryleigh Fidler (Linton, Ind.) were both named to the All-Tournament Team following the Blazer Classic this past weekend.

Brantli Lannan led the Trailblazers in digs each of the four games during the Blazer Classic and finished the tournament with 99 digs in 15 sets for 6.6 per set. Lannan also achieved a 2.3 service receive rating out of a possible 3.0 rating while handling a majority of the serves for the weekend. Brantli is also leading the Nation in digs with 281 on the season.

Ryleigh Fidler had a spectacular all-around tournament with double-doubles in three of four matches with double digits in kills and digs. Fidler led VU in points for the tournament with 48.5 points (kills, blocks, aces). Fidler is also the team leader in kills with 131.

VU Coach Gary Sien says…

Ryleigh and Brantli each had a good individual weekend. Ryleigh is playing in all 6 rotations this year which gives her an opportunity to use both her front row and back row skills. After being mostly a defensive specialist a year ago, Brantli has stepped into the Libero position full time and has excelled, continuing on the high level to play like her predecessors in that position.
