Vincennes University basketball legend Shawn Marion returning to P.E. Complex

VINCENNES, Ind. – NBA champion Shawn Marion is coming home to Vincennes University.

VU is honoring Marion on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at the P.E. Complex. The four-time NBA all-star will be honored with a special halftime ceremony during the men's basketball game against Lake Land. Tip-off is 7 p.m. ET.

Marion dominated in a VU uniform between 1996 and 1998. The All-American ranks second on VU’s all-time lists with 1,685 points and 923 rebounds.

Admission to basketball games is always free for all VU students with a VU ID. Admission is also always free for current and retired VU employees with a VU ID and one guest. Admission is free for children 12 and under for all basketball games. General admission tickets are $5 and reserved seating costs $8. Only cash is accepted. Pay at the door.

Play4Kay

The Vincennes University Athletic Department hosts Play4Kay and raises donations for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund annually. VU Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Harry Meeks has a special connection to the late Yow, who was the longtime coach at North Carolina State. He had the pleasure of meeting her while he was an assistant coach at Western Carolina University. This left a lasting impression on him and made this cause important to him and the Trailblazers.

Scholarship Fund

Trailblazer Scholarship fund - The VU foundation awarded $970,242.80 scholarship dollars of the VU Foundation and University funds for the 2017-18 school year to incoming and returning VU students.  These included awards to students from 8 states across the country and 3 international awards.

The VU Foundation currently manages over 525 scholarship and department funds, with 247 news funds created in just the last 9 years.
