Vincennes University basketball season to be played under unique conditions

VINCENNES, Ind. – The 2021 spring sports season inside the P.E. Complex at Vincennes University will look a little different this year as Vincennes University announces that all indoor games (basketball and volleyball) will be played without fans.

The decision is consistent with VU’s ongoing efforts to protect the health and safety of students, coaches, staff, spectators and the Vincennes community.

“To this point, this has not been a regular basketball preseason. It is very unfortunate that we cannot have our loyal fans in the stands. We are going to miss that and I can’t wait for the day when we can have our fans back in the stands,” VU Athletic Director and Women’s Basketball Coach Harry Meeks said.

How to watch

While fans will not be able to attend basketball games in person this season, we are continuing to offer a live stream of all VU home basketball games this year, in addition to our radio broadcasts on 91.1 FM WVUB with Dave Hunter and Dan Ravellette.

You can find the live streams at; https://portal.stretchinternet.com/vutrailblazers/

“To offer a live stream to our fans is a big deal for us. We’ve been working on a live stream for several years here and that’s an important aspect of what we’re doing in the Athletic Department. To get our games out there where our fans can see the local college team perform on the floor. We have a high degree of expecting good things to happen here and we will keep working at it and we are hoping that our fans will work with us on the endeavor,” Meeks added.

Be a part of the 2021 basketball season

While VU fans won’t be in the stands this season, fans will have the opportunity to have their presence felt. VU is offering a fan cutout for the 2021 basketball season, with packages starting as low as $50 with a special $35 student rate.

The fan cutouts are a great way to show your support for the Trailblazers as we begin the 2021 season.

More information about the cutouts, rules and how to purchase will be coming at a later date.

Play4Kay

The Vincennes University Athletic Department hosts Play4Kay and raises donations for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund annually. VU Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Harry Meeks has a special connection to the late Yow, who was the longtime coach at North Carolina State. He had the pleasure of meeting her while he was an assistant coach at Western Carolina University. This left a lasting impression on him and made this cause important to him and the Trailblazers.
