Vincennes University men’s basketball sign point guard Taaj Davis

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University men’s basketball team has received a signature of commitment from point guard Taaj Davis (Aurora, Ill.) to join the team starting in the 20-21 season. The 6-foot-1 point guard currently attends Aurora Christian High School where he has been named first team all-state.

Aurora Christian managed to go 25-6 in this past season. Davis helped his high school to accomplish this feat by putting up an average 25.8 points per game, 5.4 rebounds per game, and 4.4 assists per game.

VU Coach Todd Franklin says. . .

“Taaj Davis had a tremendous senior year of high school basketball that was unfortunately, cut short like all of ours. He was in the state semifinals in Illinois, and his team looked ready to win it all. That's the kind of guy he is, he's a winner. He’s a lefty point guard that's strong and can really score. Just this year he had three games where he scored over 50 points. I think he's a guy who's ascending, his best basketball has been played in this past year. We think that by the time he leaves here he stands a very strong shot at being a Div. I point guard.”

VU Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Harry Meeks has a special connection to the late Yow, who was the longtime coach at North Carolina State. He had the pleasure of meeting her while he was an assistant coach at Western Carolina University. This left a lasting impression on him and made this cause important to him and the Trailblazers.
