VU golfers finish in sixth place at Butler Fall Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS – The Vincennes University Golf Team held steady throughout the Butler Fall Invitational at Highland Golf & Country Club in Indianapolis and finished sixth Tuesday in a field filled with four-year programs.

The Trailblazers were also sixth after Monday’s action.

Evansville's Tyler Gray won the event with a score of 210. He finished one stroke ahead of Indianapolis's Evan Stoker. Stoker led the Greyhounds to the team title by carding a score of 854. Evansville was one shot back, followed by Butler in third. Marian, Morehead State, VU and Chicago State rounded out the seven-team field.

The Vincennes University Athletic Department hosts Play4Kay and raises donations for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund annually. VU Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Harry Meeks has a special connection to the late Yow, who was the longtime coach at North Carolina State. He had the pleasure of meeting her while he was an assistant coach at Western Carolina University. This left a lasting impression on him and made this cause important to him and the Trailblazers.

Trailblazer Scholarship fund - The VU foundation awarded $970,242.80 scholarship dollars of the VU Foundation and University funds for the 2017-18 school year to incoming and returning VU students.  These included awards to students from 8 states across the country and 3 international awards.

The VU Foundation currently manages over 525 scholarship and department funds, with 247 news funds created in just the last 9 years.
