VU Men’s Basketball Team Moves to a Perfect 10-and-0 With Second Road Win in the Indian Hills Community College Classic

Ottumwa, IA – The Vincennes University Men’s Basketball Team will surely be moving up in the next issue of the national rankings as they picked up a 78-63 victory over William Penn JV in their second game of the Indian Hills Community College Classic.

Vincennes used a big first half from Sophomore Nate Hansen scoring the basketball to propel themselves to an 8 point first half lead, 39-31. The Trailblazers also held William Penn JV to a cold 41% from the field, and did not allow a 3-point make.

In the second half, VU would stretch their lead behind several big 3’s from Sophomore Chris Darrington, who would knock down six shots from behind the 3-point stripe in the game. VU would lead by as many as 26 in the second half before eventually coasting to a 78-63 win to move to a perfect 10-and-0 on the season.

Big performances from the Trailblazers included 24 points and 4 assists from Nate Hansen, 21 points from Chris Darrington, and a game-high 13 rebounds from Freshman Rade Kukobat.

The Men’s Basketball team returns to action next Saturday with a tough road test at John A. Logan. Tip off will be at 4 p.m. EST!

The Vincennes University Athletic Department hosts Play4Kay and raises donations for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund annually. VU Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Harry Meeks has a special connection to the late Yow, who was the longtime coach at North Carolina State. He had the pleasure of meeting her while he was an assistant coach at Western Carolina University. This left a lasting impression on him and made this cause important to him and the Trailblazers.
