Mulder earns NJCAA 1st-Team All-American status; Dodd named to 2nd-Team, Clemons garners 3rd-Team honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The 2014-15 NJCAA All-America teams for all six divisions of National Junior College Athletic Association men’s and women’s basketball were released Tuesday, and Vincennes University sophomore Mychal Mulder was named to the Men’s Div. I First-Team All-American list. Trailblazer Everett Clemons was named to the Men’s Div. I Third-Team All-American list and VU sophomore Nicole Dodd earned Women’s Div. I Second-Team All-American Honors.
All-American selections were made by committees appointed to pick each division’s three All-American teams and Honorable-Mention list.
Mulder was honored after he scored 865 points in two seasons with the Trailblazers. His two-season scoring average was 12.1 points per game and his rebounding average for his VU career was 5.7 boards per contest. In 2014-15, when VU assembled a 33-2 record, the 6-4 Mulder led the Trailblazers in scoring at 15.7 ppg. His 6.9 rebounds per game was second on the team.
Clemons played in 31 of VU’s games in 2014-15 and was the primary player in charge of running the Trailblazers’ offense. He dished out 7.8 assists per game while averaging 9.4 points and 5.1 rebounds. Over his two-year career at VU, Clemons played in 67 games and posted career averages of 5.7 assists, 7.4 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
Dodd capped off her Trailblazer tenure with a sophomore season in which she played in all 33 of VU’s games and averaged 16.6 points while pulling down 5.5 rebounds per game as VU finished 29-4. Her two-year totals for 63 games played at VU include 1,036 points scored. Dodd averaged 16.4 points and 5.1 rebounds as a Trailblazer.

Play4Kay

The Vincennes University Athletic Department hosts Play4Kay and raises donations for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund annually. VU Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Harry Meeks has a special connection to the late Yow, who was the longtime coach at North Carolina State. He had the pleasure of meeting her while he was an assistant coach at Western Carolina University. This left a lasting impression on him and made this cause important to him and the Trailblazers.

Trailblazer Scholarship fund - The VU foundation awarded $970,242.80 scholarship dollars of the VU Foundation and University funds for the 2017-18 school year to incoming and returning VU students.  These included awards to students from 8 states across the country and 3 international awards.

The VU Foundation currently manages over 525 scholarship and department funds, with 247 news funds created in just the last 9 years.
