VU to honor first Trailblazer squad to capture NJCAA Div. I Men's Basketball crown; 1965 champs to be represented at Feb. 7 program

Join Vincennes University Athletics on Feb. 7 as we honor VU's first NJCAA Div. I Men's Basketball National Champion.

The 1964-65 squad assembled a 28-6 record on the way to defeating Burlington (now known as Southeastern Iowa) by an 80-76 score.

VU will welcome team members and some members of that season's cheerleading squad back to campus on Feb. 7 for a day of activities and reminiscing. The team will be formally honored that evening at halftime of the current Trailblazer squad's 7 p.m. game vs. Shawnee.

Don't miss out on the chance to see members of the team that vaulted VU Basketball from being an outstanding program to being a legendary NJCAA program.

WHAT: Honoring the 1964-65 NJCAA Champion Vincennes Trailblazers
WHEN: Sat., Feb. 7; Halftime of the VU Trailblazers game vs. Shawnee
WHERE: The VU P.E. Complex on the VU campus

Play4Kay

The Vincennes University Athletic Department hosts Play4Kay and raises donations for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund annually. VU Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Harry Meeks has a special connection to the late Yow, who was the longtime coach at North Carolina State. He had the pleasure of meeting her while he was an assistant coach at Western Carolina University. This left a lasting impression on him and made this cause important to him and the Trailblazers.
