VU Trailblazer Cross Country headed to Friday's Indiana Intercollegiate Meet

TERRE HAUTE – The Vincennes University Cross Country Teams resume the 2015 schedule Friday when the Trailblazers compete in the 2015 Indiana Intercollegiate Meet at Indiana State University’s LaVern Gibson Championship Course.
VU will be the lone NJCAA-member squad at the event. The field will also include five NCAA Div. I teams, three NCAA Div. II teams and eight NCAA Div. III contingents. In addition, nine NAIA squads and one USCAA team will be at the meet. The NCAA Div. I teams will make up one division (“Big State”), while the remaining schools will comprise the meet’s other division (“Little State”).

Race Times:
·    3:15 p.m.    Women’s 5k Open,
·    4 p.m.         Men’s 8k Open,
·    4:45 p.m.    Women’s 5k Championships,
·    5:30 p.m.    Men’s 8k Championships.

Both the Men’s and Women’s Big State and Little State championship races will be run together but scored separately. Team awards will be presented to the champions of each division, while individual awards will go to the top 10 Big State Division finishers and the top 20 finishers in the
Little State Division.
From a schedule standpoint, the Trailblazers have been idle since their Sept. 5 season-opener when sophomores Adam Warren and Kelly O’Shea finished just outside the Top 10 in their respective races at the Franklin College Sodexo Grizzly Invitational. The top-15 performances led both Trailblazer teams to top-10 showings as the VU women were fifth and the VU men finished seventh in their meet.

ISU’s LaVern Gibson Championship Course is located east of the Hulman International Airport in eastern Vigo County. It is a challenging course of varying elevations, twists and turns, with a long straight-away (find the course, via Google Maps, here:,-87.2688766,5961m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x4ec3404a857223ef!6m1!1e1).
