VU women roll past Lincoln Trail for 21st victory of the season

Sophomore Tasia Brewer had game-highs of 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the 24th-ranked Vincennes University Women's Basketball Team Monday night in a rout of visiting Lincoln Trail, 84-54, as four Trailblazers reached double figures in scoring and VU (21-2) hit eight 3-pointers as part of a 50 percent shooting performance overall.

Brewer hit 4-of-8 shots from the field (including 1-of-3 from beyond the arc) and drained the last 12 of her 14 free throws to lead an offensive attack that also included freshman guard Brooke Dossett's 16 points, sophomore Nicole Dodd's 14 and freshman Chelsea Bentley's 11 points. Dossett hit three treys and Dodd knocked down a pair from 3-point land.

Dossett and Bentley also dished out five assists each, and Bentley registered two of VU's nine steals.

VU got out to a 44-29 halftime lead and then held the Lady Statesmen to 25 second half points for the easy win.

The Trailblazers will Travel to No. 21 Wabash Valley Wednesday for the first game of a men's-women's set of games. The ladies will begin at 6:30 p.m. ("Vincennes time") while the VU men take the floor at about 8:30 p.m. The VU women are looking to avenge one of their two losses on the season - a 70-59 setback on Dec. 6 at the VU P.E. Complex.
