Using Google Docs with Blackboard

As an alternative to Microsoft Office, Google offers users a free, web-based office suite that includes a Word Processor (Docs), Spreadsheet Program (Sheets) and Presentation Program (Slides).

While these products are free to use, the file format for saved documents is not compatible with Blackboar's Inline Grade tool. It is recommended that you save these files in a Microsoft compatible format before submitting them to your course assignment links. The section below will provide instructions on how you can save your Google documents in the compatible Microsoft format:
 

Google Docs (MS Word)

Once you are ready to submit your completed Google Docs file, navigate to the "File" menu. On the "File" menu, locate a choose the "Download" option. Upon choosing that option, a submenu will appear. That submenu will provide you with a list of every format of file that you are able to convert your Google document into. Choose the first option, "Microsoft Word (.docx)":


 

Google Sheets (MS Excel)

Once you are ready to submit your completed Google Sheets file, navigate to the "File" menu. On the "File" menu, locate a choose the "Download" option. Upon choosing that option, a submenu will appear. That submenu will provide you with a list of every format of file that you are able to convert your Google document into. Choose the first option, "Microsoft Excel (.xlsx)":


 

Google Slides (MS PowerPoint)

Once you are ready to submit your completed Google Docs file, navigate to the "File" menu. On the "File" menu, locate a choose the "Download" option. Upon choosing that option, a submenu will appear. That submenu will provide you with a list of every format of file that you are able to convert your Google document into. Choose the first option, "Microsoft PowerPoint (.pptx)":
