Rocket Chat - Center for Teaching and Learning

Step 1: Visit https://rocket.vinu.edu/  and login at least once to claim your account. If you have not logged in yet you will be prompted with a login button.

Step 2: Using your MyVU Username create your personal direct chat link using the following format: https://rocket.vinu.edu/direct/<MyVU Username>
             Example: My username is jstanczak1, so my link would be  https://rocket.vinu.edu/direct/jstanczak1   

Step 3: Take the new URL you created above and create a link in your Blackboard course.

How to Create a Web Link in Blackboard Menu
 

1. Click on circled plus sign at top of menu
2. Select Web Link
   
   
    
3. In Add Web Link box type something like “Chat with Instructor"
4. Copy the Rocket URL with your username (https://rocket.vinu.edu/direct/<MyVU Username>)
5. Checkmark the "Available to Users" box

• On your desktop, mobile or server, Install Rocket.Chat   https://rocket.chat/install/
