September 7, 2016 / Family & Alumni Weekend is Sept. 16-18
VINCENNES, Ind. - Barbecue, bull riding, and bobbing down the Wabash River are all features of Vincennes University’s Fall Family and Alumni Weekend, Sept. 16-18.
The fun kicks off Friday at 5 p.m. (EDT) with a Boot Scootin’ Barbecue Celebration at the Intramural Field where students, families, and alumni will enjoy bull riding, bingo, food, games, and a Sheriff’s Aftermath Dance.
Saturday events head to Patrick Henry Drive in downtown Vincennes where the public is invited to join VU revelers in a variety of activities. The VU Tube Race, affectionately known as one of Indiana’s Most Unusual Spectacles in Racing, will conclude near the Clark Memorial Bridge at 12 noon. Spectators are urged to gather and cheer the teams to victory.
At 12:30 p.m. is the “Live Dangerously” Chili Tasting event where the purchase of a $2 cup gives those with brave hearts and durable stomachs access to some of the best chili served anywhere. Live music will be provided by Anna Sage, and at 1:30 p.m. the Tube Race winners will be announced.
Moving back to campus, the President’s Reception will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the New Student Center which is located adjacent to the Physical Education Complex.
Saturday concludes with a 9 p.m. Glow Foam Party for students and families at the outdoor basketball courts.
A non-denominational Worship Service will be held Sunday, 10:30 a.m., at Maia Creek Chapel.
