VINCENNES, Ind. - William R. Cox has been appointed assistant director of Student Activities at Vincennes University, according to an announcement by Dr. Richard Walker, associate dean of students.

“William has the background, knowledge, and vision to lead the development of the Student Activities Office here at VU,” Walker said.

Cox comes to Student Activities from Distance Education where he had served as an academic advisor since December 2015.

“A new job is not a new beginning, but a path to create a new ending. I am very excited about the opportunity I have been given with VU Student Activities. I look forward to this exciting career opportunity. I’m eager to make a positive impact.”

Cox grew up in Vincennes and graduated from VU in 1995 with an associate degree in Science in Education. He transferred to the University of Southern Indiana and earned a bachelor of science in Education in 2000. While attending USI he served as a resident assistant and a student ambassador, and was a member of the Student Government Association.

Cox spent 13 years as an educator and administrator in the public school system assisting with student council, athletics, yearbook, and the Project Peace Organization.
