Open Enrollment 2020

Dear VU Employee:

I hope this letter finds you well and and anticipating the upcoming holiday season. Open enrollment is upon us once again, and the following information summarizes the changes for VU's Health Care Plan beginning January 1, 2020. Our Open Enrollment dates are November 11, 2019 - November 22, 2019. Please remember, Open Enrollment is the annual process that gives employees the opportunity to enroll in or make changes to their benefit elections for the 2020 plan year without a qualifying life even (e.g. marriage, death, divorce, the birth of a child). If you do have election changes, please contact VU's Benefits Coordinator, Chris Gardner, at (812) 888-5847. This is also the only time during the year to enroll in voluntary benefit plans, such as HRI Dental, VSP Vision, AFLAC, and the Flexible Spending Account (the FSA must be renewed annually). All changes or additions must be made by 4 PM on November 22, 2019.

The University will be changing our Pharmacy Benefit Manager from Anthem to Maxor. Beginning January 1, 2020, our new Pharmacy Benefits Manager will be Maxor National Pharmacy Services. Like Anthem, Maxor will now be responsible for processing and paying prescription drug claims. We are happy to announce, there will be no changes to deductibles, co-pays, or out-of-pocket maximums; however, there will be a modest increase in the medical premiums beginning January 2020. The premiums for Active Employees are as follow:

                                                                     Medical                                                                          Bi-Weekly Rates

The 2020 tobacco-user surcharge will remain $35.00 bi-weekly. All employees enrolled in VU's healthcare plan must certify annually whether you and/or your spouse (if the spouse is covered by VU's plan) use tobacco products or are tobacco-free. Please refer to the enclosed instructions for Electronic Signature of Tobacco Affidavit for assistance completing your Tobacco Affidavit. Once the Affidavit has been completed, you will receive a confirmation email in your preferred email account.

The deadline to complete this affidavit is Friday, November 22, 2019 by 4 PM for the 2020 plan year. If online certification is not completed, the surcharge will be automatically applied effective January 1, 2020 and will remain in place for the entire 2020 plan year.

Please plan to attend the Vincennes University Benefit & Wellness Fair on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM. In keeping with our ongoing employee wellness program, the primary focus of this year's fair will be health and wellness. As you are aware, the everyday choices we make can help us live healthier and happier lives. We credit our employee wellness program with helping each of us make those better choices. We appreciate your continued participation and support of the Living Well Program!

A representative from VU's voluntary benefit programs, HRI Dental, VSP Vision, AFLAC, and Chard Snyder, will be available to answer questions and enroll employees in those programs. Those who have not already done so will have the opportunity to complete the online Tobacco Affidavit.

We have invited some local vendors to join our event and share some products and recommendations on how to implement/practice a healthier lifestyle. We will have a massage therapist on-site providing chair massages for those of you looking to relieve the stress of Open Enrollment. As always, employees who attend will have the opportunity to win some great giveaways!

Please utilize the resources available to you, submit your enrollment changes and annual Flexible Spending Account elections, and update your 2020 Online Tobacco Affidavit by the November 22, 2019 deadline. If you have any questions related to Open Enrollment or VU Benefits, please contact Chris Garnder, Benefits Coordinator, at (812) 888-5847 or Cgardner@vinu.edu.

Live your best you!
