Primary Responsibilities/Duties

• Provide general support to VU students enrolling in the Learning Unlimited initiative.

• Assist students in connecting with appropriate university offices when necessary.

• Provide technological support to students.

• Coordinate and link students to other students.

• Coordinate and link students to instructors.

• Support participants in navigating the educational system and the library systems.

• Assist when necessary the course instructors and Learning Unlimited coordinator as a teacher’s aide.

• Work as a proctor to Learning Unlimited and potential Learning Unlimited students.

• All other duties as are necessary to assist with the Learning Unlimited Program in an efficient and beneficial manner.

Successful candidates will have:

RSVP Director (Generations) – Vincennes, IN

Part-Time

 

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the position of RSVP Director for Generations. This is a part-time support profesional position.

 

Responsible for management of RSVP volunteer programs. Provides leadership and expertise within Generations in regard to volunteer management and its role in achieving the stated mission. Works with other Directors of RSVP, Healthy Aging Staff and others at Generations to ensure grant requirements fulfilled.

 

This position is responsible for:

 

  • Recruits, hires, trains, supervises and evaluates volunteers and paid staff, advisory boards, station supervisors & program coordinators in accordance with grant requirements.

  • Administers the day-to-day operations of the program.

  • Develops and manages new volunteer programs as dictated by the RSVP grant and supports other volunteer initiatives for older adults through referral to AngelWorx or other organizations needing volunteers.

  • Collaborates with Director of Planning & Community Development to develop the grant budget, apply for additional funds and ensure data is collected and funds allocated per the grant requirements.

  • Recruits, provides orientation, places and arranges assignments for RSVP volunteers.

  • Submits monthly output reports to the Director of Planning & Community Development. These reports incorporate performance measurement outputs and outcomes aligned with the RSVP grant.

  • Develops, obtains memorandum of understandings and maintains volunteer stations.

  • Attends monthly staff meetings with other RSVP staff and Healthy Aging staff to share upcoming program information, give input and support to other Generations’ priorities as needed.

  • Collects information for CNCS reporting requirements and submits to Director of Planning & Community Development timely (per RSVP Operations handbook and CNCS direction).

  • Keeps RSVP advisory council members informed and solicits their advice on matters affecting project operations.

  • Provides information and support to RSVP volunteers.

  • Assesses appropriateness and performance of volunteer stations.

  • Attends training conferences conducted or authorized by CNCS.

  • Prepares annual report.

  • Writes and submits grants that will support the stated mission of Generations’ volunteer projects.

  • Manages and assists with annual fundraising projects.

  • Enhance the RSVP project effort through active involvement with community organizations, other national service programs and other senior and volunteer programs.

  • Responsible for submitting required reports in a timely manner.

  • Manages programs/priorities of the RSVP grant, which currently include finding volunteers for the following activities which include but are not limited to Evidence-based programming (Matter of Balance, Chronic Disease Self-Management Programs), Distribution of Health Information (Senior/health Fairs, not-for-profits, Disability awareness), Food Pantry support (emergency food distribution-Senior Farmers Market Vouchers, SNAP, etc.), Kids Read, I-Team Vision Screening, Jump Start, Little Elves Workshop, Tax Preparation and Companionship (AngelWorx). Also, oversee other programs that have currently been requested through the community (including Love A Bear, Expired Drug Toss, Disaster Preparedness workshops) and volunteer stations, though not specific to the RSVP grant’s priority list.

  • Ensures Volunteer stations and supervision of volunteers are program compliant.

  • Assists Generations with other volunteer programs and initiatives.

Successful candidates will have:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or experience in related field preferred.
  • Work experience and background with seniors and/or volunteerism preferred.
  • Required to reside or have strong community involvement within service area.
  • Ability to perceive community needs as they relate to volunteer programs.
  • Interest in working with all ages, particularly the senior population.

Primary Function and Responsibilities

The tutor will work closely with teachers to monitor academic progress of students who are struggling with courses in the Early College setting. Lawrenceburg Early College High School is an Early College partnership between Vincennes University and Lawrenceburg Community School Corporation. It is located in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

 

Primary Responsibilities/Duties

  • Provide academic tutoring in Math for students

  • Customize and craft effective plans that address student weaknesses and strengths

  • Assist, evaluate, develop and integrate the students in learning

  • Motivate students and provide them with confidence to feel successful

The English Learning Coach must have experience in tutoring students. The English Learning Coach engages in personalized interaction with students, uses effective communication and feedback tools, works to create a sense of community, and provides support and encouragement to the students.

This position is responsible for:

Daily

  • One-on-one tutoring including but not limited to English

  • File student papers

  • Basic Office Skills

  • Handing out student resources such as text books for use in the lab only

  • Must have flexible hours to work mornings/evenings

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Power Point & the use of a scanner

  • Work in a high traffic academic lab

Primary Function and Responsibilities

 

ABE/HSE/ELL Instructors are responsible for providing academic instruction to adults and youth enrolled in adult education programming. Instructors work with adult and youth students individually and in groups to meet the needs of their students in reaching their academic goals.

This position is responsible for:

  • Responsible for volunteer coordination of volunteer services within Generations’ service area. 
  • Processes applications and provides orientation to volunteers.  Responsible for training volunteers on program expectations, liability issues and resources available.

Disability Student Support Services is a federally funded TRIO program which provides academic assistance and non-cognitive strategies to qualifying college students in all aspects of the college experience, with a goal to assist with retention, graduation, and transfer to four-year degree programs.

This is a part-time (14 hours a week at $15.00/ hour) Support Staff position with no benefits.

Work Hours will vary dependent upon Professional Tutor’s schedule. The Open Tutoring Labs are available to students Monday through Friday between 8 am and 7 pm. A part-time VU staff member may only work a maximum of 28 hours per week; no matter how many different departments the staff member works.

This position has responsibilities such as:

  • Competency in tutoring subjects

  • Attends tutor orientation and training

  • Documents the tutoring sessions in the student’s tutoring file

  • Monitors and assesses the student’s progress in classes

  • Reports no-shows for tutoring to SSS Educational Coaches and Director

  • Documents bi-weekly timesheets

  • Maintains FERPA, HIPAA

  • Work as a collaborative team member

  • Reports to the SSS Director

The successful candidate has:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s preferred in education, math, English, or science

  • Ability to work with underrepresented students (i.e., diverse culture, ethnic, and economical background, students with disabilities)

The Special Projects Manager is responsible for:

 

  • Serve as the lead staff member to develop and implement a Marketing plan for Generations.

  • Work with the Executive Director to provide coordination and oversight of the Strategic and Area Plans.

  • Marketing and Outreach

  • Update and maintain the Generations speech and power point presentation.

  • Create talking points and/or elevator speech regarding Generations.

  • Create a packet of information to be used in advocacy efforts that can easily be modified as issues arise.

  • Responsible for coordination with all staff to fulfill all outreach activities including presentations, senior fairs, workshops etc.

  • Strategic/Area Plan

  • Oversight of needs assessment as required by funders.

  • Work with Executive Director to develop time line and planning for Strategic and Area Plans and responsible for monitoring completion of time lines and quarterly reports from staff.

  • Coordinate and assist with the development of a new Strategic Plan every four years.

  • Coordinate and assist with the development of a new Area Plan every two years or as required by the Division of Aging.

  • Special Projects

  • Coordinate the implementation of special projects such as Ramp Up, Dementia Friends etc.

  • Oversight of one time projects that address such issues as Elder Justice and Emergency Preparedness for older adults.

    Management Responsibilities

  1. Maintain accurate knowledge of and comply with the general guidelines, policies, and procedures of the funding sources accessed for clients.

  2. Submit monthly management reports.

Community and Public Relations

  • Maintain an effective professional relationship with community resources, providers of service, and other staff.

  • Coordinate agency outreach.

The primary function of this position is to oversee the daily operations of the Nutrition Program and performs duties as a cook.

This position is responsible for:

  • Follows all regulations established by the County and State Health Departments, Indiana State Board of Health, FSSA and Generations.

  • Follows proper procedures, time and temperature principles during storage, preparation, holding and serving of food. Inventory will be used on a "first in-first out" principle.

  • Responsible for cleanliness and sanitation of the food production area, stock areas, equipment and utensils.
