Vincennes University is seeking applicants for an Academic Advisor for the Military Education program in Arkansas.

 

Primary Function:

Deliver a full range of academic advising services to all military students interested in enrolling in Vincennes University’s growing Military Education Program and or Distance Education Program offerings. The advising workload will include advising hundreds of students each term.

 

This position is responsible for:

 

  • Conduct formal advising sessions with current and prospective students while advising on major course of study, degree requirements, and appropriate course delivery method.

  • apply, and abide by the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and parental confidentiality issues.

  • Evaluate and articulate data accurately concerning students, faculty and administrators.

  • Apply an accurate knowledge of a wide range of University courses utilized in over 28 programs, and academic standards and requirements to benefit students and the University.

  • Develop degree plans for deployed and deployable military service members using critical thinking skills and working independently.

  • Coach, challenge and encourage learners through disruptive life events and obstacles through discussion of options to support student success.

  • Evaluate and interpret student’s military training and experience based on recommendations from the American Council on Education and apply credit to individual degree plans.

  • Evaluate students’ academic records to ensure all requirements for graduation have been met.

  • Travel as necessary to effectively advise, recruit, and retain students and/or represent the University at Education Fairs at other MEP educational sites and military bases.

Primary Function and Responsibilities

 

  • Maintenance of student academic files

  • Enter and update student data on Banner

The Academic Tutor, Learning Coach is designed to provide one on one or small group support for Early College students at Lawrenceburg High School. The tutor will work closely with teachers to monitor academic progress of students who are struggling with courses in the Early College setting. Lawrenceburg Early College High School is an Early College partnership between Vincennes University and Lawrenceburg Community School Corporation. It is located in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

 

Primary Responsibilities/Duties

  • Provide academic tutoring in Math for students

  • Customize and craft effective plans that address student weaknesses and strengths

  • Assist, evaluate, develop and integrate the students in learning

  • Motivate students and provide them with confidence to feel successful

  • Foster meaningful, courteous and positive relationships with students and faculty

  • Develop study skills specifically tailored to the students’ needs

  • Teach referred students how to learn by providing students with study skills and study habits

  • Prepare students for the NEXT Generation Accuplacer placement testing via one on one or in groups and via online prep tools such as MyLab Foundations

English Learning Coach (Perry Meridian EC) – Indianapolis, IN

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the position of English Learning Coach at Perry Meridian Early College in Indianapolis, IN. This part-time, Support Staff, position reports to the Assistant Dean of Instruction at University.

 

The English Learning Coach must have experience in tutoring students. He/she will support a stimulating learning environment to enrich the lives of students who are struggling in their academic classes. The English Learning Coach engages in personalized interaction with students, uses effective communication and feedback tools, works to create a sense of community, and provides support and encouragement to the students.

Bus Driver – Vincennes, IN

Part-time

 

Vincennes University’s Physical Plant is seeking applicants for Bus Driver. This part-time, Support Staff position.

 

The primary function of the bus driver is to transport staff, students, and alumni to various functions as needed.

 

Responsibilities for this position are:

 

  • To run short, daily, overnight, and weekly trips using a small passenger bus or a passenger van.
  • To be on campus one hour prior to departure time and at the pick-up site twenty minutes prior to departure time.
  • Coordinate trips with the Physical Plant Office Staff and the University personnel that have requested trips.
  • Responsible for trip tickets including mileage, time, lodging, meal allowance, etc. and coordinate the same with the office staff.
  • Responsible to inform (in writing) the mechanic supervisor of any mechanical problems or needs
  • To always be in compliance with the Department of Transportation (DOT) Code of Federal Regulations, maintaining log book, mileage, driving hours, etc.
  • To always be in compliance with the Vincennes University CDL Driver Drug and Alcohol Policy which includes being subject to controlled substances and alcohol testing rules.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Successful candidates will have:

 

  • Possess a Class B CDL, pass a DOT physical, required

  • Availability – Able to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays including several days at a time; on call available to drive with adequate lead time notice

Tutor/Lab Assistant (Academic Skills Center) – Vincennes, IN

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for 1 part-time 9-month lab assistant position in the College of Humanities, Academic Skills Center. This person would report to the Director of the Academic Skills Center.

This position is responsible for:

Daily

  • One-on-one tutoring including but not limited to English

  • File student papers

  • Basic Office Skills

  • Handing out student resources such as text books for use in the lab only

  • Must have flexible hours to work mornings/evenings

Volunteer Coordinator (Generations) – Vincennes, IN   Part-Time                

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the position of Volunteer Coordinator for Generations. This is a part-time support staff position.

This position is responsible for:

  • Responsible for volunteer coordination of volunteer services within Generations’ service area. 
  • Processes applications and provides orientation to volunteers.  Responsible for training volunteers on program expectations, liability issues and resources available.
  • Responsible for recruiting volunteers for the Volunteer Center by communicating with service organizations, churches, school groups, etc. 
  • Responsible for creating public awareness of the program within their county.

Experience VU Tutor (2 positions) – Vincennes, IN

Part-time

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for an Experience VU Disability Student Support Services (SSS) Professional Tutor (2 positions).

Disability Student Support Services is a federally funded TRIO program which provides academic assistance and non-cognitive strategies to qualifying college students in all aspects of the college experience, with a goal to assist with retention, graduation, and transfer to four-year degree programs.

This is a part-time (14 hours a week at $15.00/ hour) Support Staff position with no benefits.

Work Hours will vary dependent upon Professional Tutor’s schedule. The Open Tutoring Labs are available to students Monday through Friday between 8 am and 7 pm. A part-time VU staff member may only work a maximum of 28 hours per week; no matter how many different departments the staff member works.

This position has responsibilities such as:

The Special Projects Manager is responsible for:

 

  • Serve as the lead staff member to develop and implement a Marketing plan for Generations.

  • Work with the Executive Director to provide coordination and oversight of the Strategic and Area Plans.

  • Work with appropriate staff to provide coordination and oversight of special projects until project completion or integration into the department.

This position is responsible for:

 

  • Marketing and Outreach

  • Work with the Community Resource Coordinator to create and implement an annual Marketing and Outreach Plan that creates a stronger brand identity for Generations and enhances community partnerships.

  • Update and maintain the Generations speech and power point presentation.

  • Create talking points and/or elevator speech regarding Generations.

  • Create a packet of information to be used in advocacy efforts that can easily be modified as issues arise.

  • Responsible for coordination with all staff to fulfill all outreach activities including presentations, senior fairs, workshops etc.

  • Strategic/Area Plan

  • Oversight of needs assessment as required by funders.

  • Work with Executive Director to develop time line and planning for Strategic and Area Plans and responsible for monitoring completion of time lines and quarterly reports from staff.

  • Coordinate and assist with the development of a new Strategic Plan every four years.

  • Coordinate and assist with the development of a new Area Plan every two years or as required by the Division of Aging.

  • Special Projects

  • Coordinate the implementation of special projects such as Ramp Up, Dementia Friends etc.

  • Oversight of one time projects that address such issues as Elder Justice and Emergency Preparedness for older adults.

    Management Responsibilities

Community and Public Relations

The primary function of this position is to oversee the daily operations of the Nutrition Program and performs duties as a cook.

This position is responsible for:

  • Follows all regulations established by the County and State Health Departments, Indiana State Board of Health, FSSA and Generations.

  • Follows proper procedures, time and temperature principles during storage, preparation, holding and serving of food. Inventory will be used on a "first in-first out" principle.

  • Responsible for cleanliness and sanitation of the food production area, stock areas, equipment and utensils.

  • Follows standardized recipes/menus.

  • Assures that bulk food is packaged with site name, contents, number of servings and serving size.

  • Records daily usage of food and supplies on production sheets.

  • Assists with packaging homebound meal components.
