Lewis Historical Library - Shake Library in the LRC
Digitized documents from the Lewis Library's collections are now available through Indiana Memory!
These collections from the Byron R. Lewis Historical Library at Vincennes University highlight the importance of Vincennes, Indiana's oldest city, and the state's oldest college to early Indiana statehood. Initial collections to be digitized include early family papers reflecting the city's French heritage, documents reflecting the origins of higher education in Indiana, and selected early Knox County government records. This project was made possible by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the Indiana State Library.
The Byron R. Lewis Historical Library is located on the Vincennes campus of Vincennes University. The library serves as the archives for Vincennes University, founded in 1801 as one of America's oldest institutions of higher learning. Archival collections include presidential papers, records, photographs, and various university publications. This collection is currently being digitized and will be available online in the future.
