Dear VU Colleagues, Students, and Stakeholders:
You have done an amazing job in getting us to the finish line of spring semester and I am so grateful for all you have done and are doing to support our students and keep fulfilling the VU mission.
As previously announced, instruction will remain online through the first summer session, but we had planned to reopen facilities and resume face-to-face operations on June 1. Guided by Governor Holcomb’s 5-stage plan to reopen the Indiana economy, VU will be extending the existing telecommuting and flexible working arrangements through July 5, 2020.
In addition, all facilities will maintain their current statuses through July 5, 2020 and all outside activities, including camps scheduled for July, are being canceled.
All current working arrangements will remain in place through July 5, except where business needs may have changed. Supervisors are asked to communicate any changes to employees’ current work arrangements as soon as an adjustment may become necessary. In situations where some face-to-face activities must continue or resume before July 6, VU will endeavor to ensure the health and safety of all involved, by allowing alternate arrangements or phased return for high risk individuals and for those in high density spaces that cannot socially distance.
Human Resources is developing guidance documents and training to assist supervisors in managing their teams in a safe, healthy, and effective manner. Look for those resources to be available in mid-June.
Given the fluid nature of the COVID-19 situation and differences in various VU locations, we may decide to alter this schedule across the university or at specific sites. Please check email, social media, and the VU Coronavirus Updates web page, https://www.vinu.edu/coronavirus-updates, to stay abreast of VU news related to COVID-19.
As I have said many times, thank you all for your hard work, patience, and commitment to the VU family during this challenging time.
