Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the position of JAG Specialist. This full-time, Professional Staff position in Workforce Development Services, Region 8.

 

The Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) Workforce Training Specialist is responsible for providing JAG services within a specific High School in Region 8. This position requires building relationships with educational institutions, employers, community organizations and the participating JAG school personnel. This position is responsible for fully implementing the JAG Model in an assigned school and achieving process standards and performance goals. This is a teaching position requiring daily classroom instruction of students to develop education and career skills.

The JAG Specialist functionally reports to the JAG Program Manager. In addition, this position receives general supervision and guidance from the Operations Manager and the PDT Manager. Job responsibilities are to be performed within the general policies of Vincennes University as defined by the University Manual, Indiana Department of Workforce Development Services Policy, Region 8 Integrated Procedures, Policy Letters, Policy of host High School, JAG Manual, internal organizational charts, position descriptions, and verbal instructions. The individual exercises daily, independent non-routine decision making which demands initiative, management skills, sound judgment, and positive communication skills. Position requires strong public speaking, presentation skills and the ability to work independently.

 

This position is responsible for:

 

  • Experience working with youth accompanied by knowledge of adolescent development issues.

  • Skills in human relationships, leadership, supervision, and motivational techniques.

  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

  • Ability to establish the appropriate boundaries, while developing and nurturing supportive relationships with students.

  • Ability to educate a variety of constituencies and interested parties about the program by developing ongoing relationships and making formal presentations.

  • Ability to develop curriculum and educational opportunities consistent with the JAG model.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite Software, web-based applications and data management systems.

    Successful candidates will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in the area of education, and training, human resources, economic development or related fields.

  • Individual must be detail orientated and able to compile reports. Work is performed independently with minimal supervision.

  • Must be familiar with college admissions processes.

  • Strong written and public speaking skills are required.

  • Position requires a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel by both public transportation as well as private transportation including self-transportation. Ability to transport students may be required. Travel out of the area may be required for training purposes.

  • Primary work location during the school year will be at assigned JAG High School. During school JAG staff will work at a designated location as determined by VU management staff. Salary:

Dean of Health Sciences and Human Performance – Vincennes, IN

Full-Time

VU is committed to supporting students in associate degree and selected bachelor degree programs. The University encourages and supports the professional development of faculty and staff to ensure excellent learning experiences for students.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Dean of Health Science and Human Performance provides university curricular leadership in the disciplines/majors of the academic college, oversees the day-to-day operations of the college, and represents the college to the wider university and community. The Dean reports to the Provost of the University.

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • providing leadership, supervision and support to the faculty and staff of the College

  • leading recruitment and retention efforts within the College

  • providing assistance in the development of course offerings, schedules and teaching assignments.

  • overseeing the Center for Health Sciences building

RESEA Training Coordinator – Greene County, IN

Part-Time

Vincennes University is seeking applications for RESEA Training Coordinator in Greene County. This is a part-time position reporting to the Program Director.

Primary Function

  • Coordinate services for the RESEA (Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessment) program for Region to include oversight of adherence to the requirements of the program.

  • Ability to establish working relationships with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities is essential. Excellent communication skills (written and oral) are required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assure weekly selections of customers for required programs have been made and letters associated with selection are sent out to customers in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Meet all participation goals as identified in grant program requirements.

  • Process claimant lists and schedule participants for RESEA program to include tracking participation in case management system with a 90% accuracy of selection, coding and service entries in tracking system.

  • Conduct RESEA orientation sessions and individual interviews with participants as needed.

  • Be familiar with all WorkOne services available throughout the Region and possess ability to make proper referrals as necessary.

  • Administer/Manage placement of customers into unsubsidized employment through contacts developed and maintained with business and industry, working closely with business services team.

  • Ability to use assessments, testing instruments and sound judgment to assist customers in making career and employment decisions.

  • Document services and relevant data results in case management system to show on-going case management activities.

  • Investigate and resolve initial grievances and complaints.

  • Plan activities to meet annually established enrollment numbers and expenditure levels.

Position Requirements:

 

  • This individual will have frequent contact with the general public. The ability to explain program requirements and objectives in concise and understandable language to participants is essential.
  • Effective communications with local office manager regarding RESEA program progress to include any challenges or issues which might affect program success and/or needs for assistance.

  • Interpret internal policies, WIOA policies, IDWD policies and VU policies to applicants, participants, local employers, schools, social service agencies, community organizations and members of the community as needed.

  • Excellent organizational skills to maintain orderly work environment due to nature of the positon. Strong foundational knowledge of local labor markets and able to assist in development of labor market information as needed for use by internal and external customers.

  • Manage case load of diverse clientele including adults, dislocated workers, veterans and youth.

  • Ability to learn and proficiently apply a variety of computer applications specific to the work environment. Ability to learn multiple computer databases which include Indiana Career Connect (ICC), Uplink, etc. effectively to ensure appropriate, accurate, and timely entry of data into required system.

  • Ability to be punctual, maintain good work attendance, meet deadlines and use critical thinking skills are necessary for this position.

  • This position will have infrequent contact with the University administration, faculty and staff.

SALARY:

Range $12.00 to $14.50 an hour. Salary will be determined on the basis of experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities.

Educational Coach (COPE) - Vincennes, IN

Full-Time

 

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for a COPE SSS Educational Coach. This is a full time professional staff position.

 

COPE Student Support Services is a federally funded TRIO program which provides academic assistance, coaching, mentoring, and non-cognitive strategies to qualifying college students with all aspects of the college experience, with a goal to assist with retention, graduation, and transfer to four-year degree programs.

 

Work Hours will vary dependent upon Educational Coach’s schedule. The COPE SSS office hours are typically Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., as well as some evenings. Pre-VU and START VU Saturdays are from 8 am at the Student Union and conducting potential participant interviews until 4:30 pm.

This position is responsible for the following:

  • Coaches, mentors, and records student services
  • Transition facilitation from high school to postsecondary
  • Assists students with FAFSA
  • Assists transfer to four-year institutions of higher education
  • Interviews students
  • Develops and presents small groups and workshops
  • Tutors students
  • Completes data for annual performance report
  • Coordinates services with community agencies
  • Assist with student organization, Triple S, activities/events
  • Assists students in career exploration
  • Performs a variety of duties for COPE SSS Program (e.g., conduct workshops, assist with newsletters)

  • Understands ADA, Section 504 federal laws
  • Maintains FERPA, HIPAA
  • Works as a collaborative team member
  • Works some evenings for workshops, field trips, Etiquette Dinners etc.
  • Works Saturdays for Pre-VU and START VU days

Director of Student Activities – Vincennes, IN

Full-Time

 

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the position of Director of Student Activities. This is a full-time professional staff position that reports to the Associate Dean of Students. The Director is responsible for providing a diversified program of activities for students.

 

This position is responsible for:

 

Programming

  • Advise the Student Government Association (SGA)

  • Attend all regular and executive council meetings

  • Develop appropriate in-service training

  • Coordinate student elections with the SGA

  • Present an annual Student Activity fee budget to the Student Government Association for development and approval.

  • Collaborate with faculty members to plan, organize and implement co-curricular programs that support the University’s common and program learning outcomes and contribute to the educational experience of its students.

  • Plan, organize and implement the new student orientation program in cooperation with other administrative offices on campus.

  • Plan and coordinate the Leadership Certificate Program.

Supervisory

  • Supervise and mentor the:

  • VideoNet Program student worker

  • SGA Members

OrgSync

  • Serve as the main contact/resource person for OrgSync while developing and supporting the usage and offerings of the OrgSync Club and Organization website

  • Be a resource and provide the OrgSync training to student clubs and advisors assisting them to update, format, and input information for their Club or Organization

  • Provide guidance and assistance for the event registration and activity grant request process

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement on-line voting through the OrgSync system

Budgetary

  • Responsible for all expenditures for the Student Activity Fee budget pertaining to student programs and programming

  • A Bachelors degree, with minimum of five years of full time administrative/professional experience, in the preferred area of; Student Affairs, Public Administration, or related field.

This position is responsible for:

Implements the Case Management component of CHOICE (2.0), SSBG, Title III, Title IIIE Family Caregiver, Care Transitions, Grants, Medicaid Waivers, private pay, and fee-for service within the Case Management Dept.

 

Successful candidates will have:

 

  • Registered nurse with one year’s experience in human services.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, Gerontology, Nursing, or Health and Human Services; or

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field with a minimum of two years full-time, direct service experience with the elderly or disabled (this experience must include assessment, care plan development, and monitoring); or

  • Master’s degree in a related field

  • Must possess the ability to work cooperatively with a diverse population, community leaders, public officials, township trustees, welfare department employees, nursing home personnel and physicians, the general public and especially the low-income individuals.

 

Within six months of initial employment must complete the Case Management certification through the Division of Aging. Also required to obtain 20 hours Division of Aging approved training a year. May be requested to obtain additional certifications, such as SHIP.
