Students who meet the appropriate standards will be qualified to take the State of
Indiana and National Registry test for certification as Emergency Medical Technicians
(EMTs). EMTs care for patients at the scene of an incident and while taking patients
by ambulance to a hospital. An EMT has the skills to assess a patient’s condition
and to manage respiratory, cardiac, and trauma emergencies.
This is a 6 credit hour course that meets 2 nights a week and an occasional Saturday
for the semester. This program is run during the Fall semester. A Spring semester
may be offered, depending on student enrollment.
Program Requirements:
- Students must complete a minimum of fifteen hours of clinical/emergency room and fifteen
hours of ambulance experience during the program.
- Completion of or concurrent enrollment in a CPR certification course.
- Be 18 years of age or older.
