Lucy Dominguez
When she moved to the U.S. 15 years ago, Maria Luz Dominguez (Lucy) didn’t know a
lot of English. She said that the English she had learned in Mexico is very different
from the English here. Therefore, it was a challenge for her to pronounce certain
words, but Lucy didn’t let any barriers keep her from reaching her goals of writing/speaking
fluent English and earning her HSE (High School Equivalency).
Donna Jones
If you were to sit down and have a conversation with Donna Jones, you would find that
she is extremely easy and fun to talk to; she smiles often and is quick to encourage
others and give them a good laugh! It wouldn’t take long for you to figure out that
among her top values are family and hard work.
Megan Reed
Megan Reed was excited to learn that she will be walking across the stage at our annual
Vincennes University Adult Education Graduation Ceremony in July of 2020. When she
heard the good news, she was reassured that all her hard work had paid off!
SyBriah Roberson
SyBriah has 2 children, one of which she had while she was in high school. She said
that after she had her baby, she continued going to school, but, unfortunately, did
not have a stable sitter. Since her child was her top priority, she knew the best
decision at the time would be to drop out.
Years passed by, and SyBriah knew it was the right time for her to come back to pursue
her HSE. She shared, “I was proud when I made the decision to go back to school. That
was the hardest step to take, but I just knew I wasn’t going to give up!”
