Vet technicians, also known as vet nurses, assist veterinarians with the diagnosis and care for domestic and farm animals. Duties can include collecting and analyzing lab specimens, preparing animals and equipment for surgery, assisting in diagnosing illnesses, caring for kenneled animals, and educating pet owners.
What's Unique about this certificate: Students take animal science classes taught by practicing veterinarians. Several area veterinary clinics hire VU students to give them the experience they need to apply for Vet Tech programs.
Good to Know: The Pre-Veterinary Technology certificate provides the first year of basic sciences, mathematics, and communication courses for application to a Veterinary Technology clinical program.
