Braun, a Jasper native, praised VU and the Jasper campus saying, “For over 200 years, Vincennes University has been a premier institution of higher learning for those seeking knowledge in manufacturing, logistics, aviation, and other important fields of study. In 1970 when I was a mere junior in high school, this university expanded and established a new campus in my hometown. With open enrollment and concentrating on jobs in fields where there are employee shortages, the Vincennes University Jasper campus is providing opportunities for all Hoosiers to add new skills to their resume that will ultimately lead to good-paying jobs mostly right there in Indiana.”

The 2020-2021 academic year marks the golden anniversary of VU Jasper and celebrates five decades of excellence and transforming lives.

VU President Chuck Johnson echoed the Senator’s remarks. “Vincennes University Jasper is a proud member of the community and we are glad to be an integral part of exciting workforce development efforts that are so important to the region. Our special work-based learning partnerships with employers, combined with unique new programs with the Patoka Valley Career Cooperative and Dubois County schools ensure that we are well aligned with the area’s needs, today and for the future.”

The VU Jasper campus holds a special place in Braun’s heart.

“The company that I founded in the early 80s uses VU Jasper as an excellent source of recruiting people into our company who, generally, come there fully skilled and ready to go,” he said.

“As a Jasper native, I have seen firsthand what an asset this campus has been to our community and the economic benefit it has added to Dubois and surrounding counties. We are lucky to have VU in Jasper and I am happy to be here on the floor of the U.S. Senate to celebrate with them on their golden anniversary.”
