MaryAnn Seward

Associate Professor of Communication Studies, MaryAnn Seward, more commonly known by her indigenous name, Sunflower, joined the Vincennes University faculty in 2010.    MaryAnn Seward earned a Doctorate of Philosophy in Speech Communication with an emphasis in Intercultural/Interpersonal Communication from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2008, Master of Science in Speech Communication with an emphasis in Organizational Communication in 1992, Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication Theory and Rhetoric/Spanish minor in 1991, Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education Spanish in 2004, and an Associate of Arts General Transfer from St. Louis Community College in 1989.  Teaching and learning continues to be Dr. Seward’s passion in life for over two decades.  Dr. Seward is a strong advocate for all community college students, especially nontraditional adult learners and those with special needs.  Some of Dr. Seward’s most significant contributions to Vincennes University include the establishment of a Speech Team and an annual Speaker’s Showcase, membership on the Indiana Course Transfer Library, and serving as the President of the University Senate.  While Dr. Seward’s research interests currently lie in the area of compassionate communication and leadership, she primarily teaches courses in Speech Communication, Interpersonal Communication, and Public Relations at Vincennes University.  Curriculum can be found on: http://drmaryannseward.weebly.com/
