Vincennes is a historic city that is rich and vibrant with culture. You will enjoy local theatre, festivals, historic landmarks and plenty of unique eats.

Founded in 1801 VU is Indiana’s first college making your degree widely recognized by top employers! Vincennes is a vibrant city rich with culture and history. Here you will find many unique local happenings such as the George Rogers Clark National Historic park, Fort Knox II, and the mansion of VU founder and US President William Henry Harrison.

A degree above the rest

Those with a college degree tend to earn more, a lot more. With a bachelor’s degree you may earn approximately $1 million more than someone with a high school diploma. Shelby Liegl is Blazing Her Trail as a Student Leader and Animal Lover

To say Shelby Liegl, ‘23, is an animal lover is an understatement. The Vincennes University Chemical Sciences and Pre-Veterinary major has many pets, including two dogs, two guinea pigs, and a sulcata tortoise. Learn more about the Evansville, Indiana, native’s animals later. Liegl’s future career plans stem from her love of animals. She aspires to become a veterinarian. She already works in a veterinary clinic and volunteers at an animal shelter. Her dream is to move to Colorado and become a wildlife veterinarian. While she works toward an associate degree, she is really enjoying being a college student.

VU's Project ASPIREE adds more local middle and high schools to program

Project Achieving Success through Participation in Reaching Educational Excellence (ASPIREE), sponsored by Vincennes University, has added several new schools to its federally funded grant program. Project ASPIREE is adding underrepresented students who have the potential to succeed in higher education at Washington Catholic Middle School, Washington Catholic High School, and North Daviess Jr/Sr High School.

VU Education Department receives $75,000 Lilly Endowment planning grant

Vincennes University has received a $75,000 planning grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. through its initiative, Advancing the Science of Reading in Indiana. The VU Education Department will use the grant to explore ways it prepares education majors with Science of Reading methods and to consider how it can expand and enhance those efforts.

There is a new face on campus this semester. Mark Zimmerman stepped into the role of Dean of Students at Vincennes University on Jan. 3, 2023. Zimmerman has experience in higher education through various roles with several institutions.
